The Green Hills Sign is gone, but not forgotten

The Green Hills Sign is gone, but not forgotten

Across Nashville, buildings and landmarks are coming down are coming down in the name of progress. Some inspire people to take action, like the effort to save Studio A. With others, you find yourself driving down the street thinking "didn't there used to be something there?"

The Green Hills sign might be one of the latter. It was recently removed from the island of land at the intersection of Abbott Martin and Cleghorn. According to long-time Green Hills advocate Mary Jon Hicks, the construction of the new Dillard's requires underground which led to the signs removal. Once construction is done on the new store, the sign - or one like it - should be replaced.

Along with the work being done by the Alliance for Green Hills and other development, it may be a good opportunity to reimagine what the sign and use of the island could be. Feel free to leave ideas in the comments section.
